Content is crucial for selling experiences to travellers. Wetu's content team can help load content or facilitate conversations with your providers.

Important: Wetu's content definitions are system-specific and may differ from regional definitions.

1. Stays

Places where travellers sleep whilst on holiday.

Supplier-managed profiles: The Content Team does not update Supplier-managed profiles. Suppliers must update their own content.

2. Destinations

A geographical or conceptual area where a traveller will be staying.

Types of destinations

  • Countries - National boundaries, country-level content
  • Provinces/States - Regional divisions, state-level areas
  • Towns/Cities - Urban destinations, city content
  • Tourist Regions - Defined tourism areas, popular regions (e.g., Cape Winelands, Masai Mara)
  • Nature Reserves - Protected areas, wildlife reserves, conservation areas
  • Conservation Areas - Managed conservation zones, protected ecosystems

How destinations work in Wetu

Automatic population:

  • Destination linked to accommodation in that area

  • When accommodation added to itinerary

  • Destination automatically populates

For areas without accommodation:

Wetu loads Sites/Attractions instead

  • Manually added to Planner

  • Have GPS coordinates for routing

Routing capability: GPS coordinates allow route building between locations.

3. Attractions & Landmarks

Activities that travellers can partake in during their journey.

Categories of attractions

  • Adventure: Bungee jumping, skydiving, rock climbing, zip-lining, abseiling
  • Leisure: Spa treatments, yoga sessions, meditation, wellness activities
  • Outdoor: Hiking, walking safaris, bush walks, nature trails, Camping
  • Sport: Golf, tennis, cycling, running, team sports
  • Watersports: Diving, snorkelling, surfing, kayaking, sailing, fishing

Activity vs. component vs. day tour

Single activity:
- Linked to one location
- Add as "Things to Do"

Multiple activities combined:
- Load as Component (custom package)
- Or create Day Tour

Flexibility: Choose format based on complexity.

5. Food & Beverage

Types of F&B establishments

  • Restaurants: Fine dining, casual dining, quick service, ethnic cuisine
  • Cafés: Coffee shops, breakfast spots, light meals, bakeries
  • Bars: Pubs, wine bars, cocktail bars, lounges

F&B with entertainment

Some listings include:

  • Live music venues
  • Dinner theatres
  • Cooking experiences
  • Food tours

6. Venues

Places where events, meetings, or large activities take place.

Common Venue Types

Conference Centres
Meeting facilities, Conference rooms, Business venues
Stadiums
Sports stadiums, Arenas, Large event spaces
Expo Centres
Exhibition halls, Trade show venues, Convention centres
Corporate Facilities
Office spaces, Training centres, Corporate retreats

Not venue types: Bed & Breakfast, Guest houses & lodges, and Tented or outdoor camps should not be categorised as venues. These should be under accommodations (Stays).

Using venues in itineraries

For:
- Corporate travel
- MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions)
- Events
- Group bookings

Route building:
- Needed to build accurate routes
- GPS coordinates for navigation
- Transfer point identification

No content included:
- No images
- No descriptions
- Just location data

Behind the scenes: Infrastructure enables routing but doesn't appear as featured content.

- Things to Do: Guided tour to Cape Point
- Attraction: Cape of Good Hope
- Attraction: Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach
- Food & Beverage: Lunch at Simons Town restaurant

Day 3: Winelands

Wetu Content Team

Getting content loaded

For public content:

  1. Contact Wetu Content Team

  2. Request specific destinations, attractions, or infrastructure

  3. Content team loads to public database

For supplier content:

  1. Wetu can facilitate conversations with providers

  2. Encourage top providers to add content

  3. Suppliers create Professional profiles

  4. Content becomes available to all Wetu users

For private content:

  1. Create in your Product Manager

  2. Add to your account only

  3. Not visible to other Wetu users

Best practices for content

Choose the right content type

Stay vs. Attraction:

  • Sleeping there? → Stay

  • Just visiting? → Attraction

Activity vs. Component:

  • Single activity at one location? → Things to Do

  • Multiple activities packaged? → Component or Day Tour

Destination vs. Site:

  • Large area with accommodations? → Destination

  • Specific point of interest? → Site/Attraction

Keep content updated

Regular reviews:

  • Quarterly: Check your custom content

  • Annually: Verify public content still accurate

  • As needed: Update when changes occur

Report issues:

  • Contact Content Team for public content

  • Contact suppliers for their profiles

  • Update your own private content directly

Content definitions vs. regional terms

Important: Wetu's definitions are system-specific.

Examples of differences:

Lodge:

  • Regional: May mean small accommodation or B&B

  • Wetu: Safari lodge or game lodge specifically

Mobile Safari:

  • Regional: May include any mobile accommodation

  • Wetu: Specifically travelling camping safaris

Destination:

  • Regional: May mean entire country or specific site

  • Wetu: Geographic area linked to accommodation

Troubleshooting

Can't find content type I need
- Check if fits existing category
- Contact Content Team for guidance
- May be loaded under different name
- Request new content type if truly missing

Content appearing in wrong category
- Content Team can recategorise
- Email: contentservices@wetu.com
- Provide content name and correct category

Infrastructure not showing for routing
- May not be loaded yet
- Request infrastructure point from Content Team
- Provide exact GPS coordinates if available

Supplier content not appearing
- Check supplier has Professional profile
- Verify content is published
- Confirm supplier has completed profile
- Contact supplier or Wetu support
